Stevie Nicks, now 66, is still going strong with a new album out and a huge gay following still intact after nearly 40 years of making records.
‘I can’t say that I’m so glad that gay people like my music, because I have never looked at gay people as different from any other people,’ Nicks says in an interview with Out Magazine posted on Tuesday (11 September).
Nicks has legions of younger fans, gay and straight, thanks to an episode of Glee that spotlighted Fleetwood Mac’s landmark 1977 album Rumours. Nicks also played a singing witch last season on American Horror Story.
Nicks is not a lesbian but she says if she had been, she never would have hid.
‘If I were gay, the second that I knew, I would have said, "OK, everybody, this is how it is, and either you still like me or I don’t care." I think that if you are gay, you just have to say "It’s great!"’
