Insurance giant QBE recognised at Australian LGBTI Awards

Inclusive winners: QBE staff with their Aussie LGBTI award.

One of Australia’s biggest companies, QBE Insurance, has won the ‘LGBTI Employee Network Award’ at the 2019 Australian LGBTI Awards.

The awards recognised QBE’s LGBTIQ+ inclusive culture and the innovative approach taken by its employee pride network.

This included a ‘bring your whole self to work’ initiative which showcased the power of LGBTIQ+ visibility in workplace culture.

The award is a testament to the work of QBE’s Pride Committee, said Eleanor Debelle, QBE’s chief HR officer. Moreover, she added that it should also reflect the support from the broader employee network.

“Thank you to the QBE Pride Committee – your sustained commitment, courage and passion has been instrumental in our mission to ensure QBE is an inclusive workplace for all of our people, and importantly our LGBTIQ+ community, family and friends.”

QBE’s inclusiveness fundamental to strategic plan

“For QBE, fostering an inclusive workplace is not only the right thing to do, it’s fundamental to delivering on our strategic plan and driving positive outcomes for our customers and partners.”
