Actor Marwan Kenzari will be playing Jafar in the new Aladdin movie

Dutch-Tunisian actor Marwan Kenzari is set to play the villainous Jafar in Disney’s upcoming live-action remake of Aladdin.

He joins Mena Massoud as the titular hero, Naomi Scott as Princess Jasmine, Will Smith as the Genie, and Nasim Pedrad in a new role. Guy Ritchie is directing the film.

Most recently, Kenzari appeared in films like Ben-Hur, The Promise, and this summer’s The Mummy. He’ll also be seen in Kenneth Branagh’s new adaptation of Murder on the Orient Express this winter.

But let’s get to the important stuff. Most of all, how thirsty the internet is for the new Jafar. And we can’t really blame them. Just watch this video to see for yourself. Or check out the tweets below, which include plenty of photos (because citizens of the internet have their priorities right).

But wait a minute… Jafar is still the villain. We can’t root against Aladdin, right? … right?

And now fans are torn on who should end up together at the end.

Others are wondering about Disney’s casting choices for their villains.

At the end of the day, however, there’s only one focus here.

So what do you think of the new Jafar? Does he have you questioning where your loyalties lie? Should he end up with Aladdin at the end?
