Grey’s Anatomy actor Jake Borelli just came out as gay, at the same time the character he plays came out as bisexual.

Borelli plays Levi Schmitt, who kisses Nico Kim (Alex Landi) in the hallway of the latest episode. His character reveals he’s never kissed a man before.

Then the 27-year-old actor took to Instagram to share his own coming out story.

Last night (1 November), Borelli wrote: ‘As a gay guy myself, tonight’s episode was so special to me.

‘This is exactly the kind of story I craved as a young gay kid growing up in Ohio, and it blows my mind that I’m able to bring life to Dr. Levi Schmitt as he begins to grapple with his own sexuality this season on Grey’s Anatomy.

‘His vulnerability and courage inspire me every day, and I hope he can do the same for you.

To all of you who feel like little Levis out there, know that I do too, that you are seen, and that we’re all in this together.

‘And to everyone who has supported me over the years, I can’t thank you enough, and I love you more than all the stars,’ he wrote.

Grey’s Anatomy has been on air for 15 seasons now.

This latest season features the first gay male love story for the show.

When Schmitt first meets Dr Kim for the first time, he gasps when he sees him.

Then, while performing surgery on a patient in a hyperbaric chamber, Schmitt sees Kim looking at him from the window. Schmitt suddenly starts having trouble breathing again.
