It used to be that casting for a movie was announced in one of the industry trades like The Hollywood Reporter or Variety.
Now we have Instagram and Twitter.
At least that’s the method being used to unveil the cast of the film King Cobra to be produced by James Franco.
The film is based on the 2007 murder of gay adult film producer Bryan Kocis who owned Cobra Video. Harlow Raymond Cuadra and Joseph Manuel Kerekes were trying to lure gay porn star Brent Corrigan away from Kocis and were convicted of killing him.
On Tuesday (20 October), Pretty Little Liars star Keegan Allen tweeted from the set a shirtless photo of himself with a shirtless Franco. He will play Cuadra. It’s not clear what, if any, on-screen role Franco has in the film.
On Monday (19 October), Disney’s Teen Beach Movie star Garrett Clayton posted a shirtless photo of himself on Instagram saying he is involved in ‘serious weight training for the next role.’
Clayton will play Corrigan.
The film also stars Christian Slater as Kocis and Molly Ringwald as his sister.
