Janelle Monae calls for ‘idiot racist’ Donald Trump’s impeachment

Janelle Monae and Donald Trump

Janelle Monae is the latest celebrity to have called for US President Donald Trump’s impeachment.

The pansexual singer weighed in on the conversation after Trump suggested that four minority, liberal congresswomen who have been critical of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi should ‘go back and help fix the totally broken and crime-infested places from which they came’.

Democrat Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is among the politicians Trump was referring to, alongside Ayanna Pressley, Rashida Tlaib, and Ilhan Omar.

Trump’s comment reflected some infighting between the four women and Pelosi, but prompted other Democrats – including Pelosi – to defend them.

‘When @realDonaldTrump tells four American Congresswomen to go back to their countries, he reaffirms his plan to “Make America Great Again” has always been about making America white again. Our diversity is our strength and our unity is our power,’ Pelosi wrote.

In a tweet published on 14 July on her page, Janelle Monae retweeted Pelosi’s message. Monae addressed the speaker, criticizing her for being too soft and urging her to call for impeachment.

‘I’m dead ass convinced this idiot racist could kill someone on Twitter live in the WH west wing & u guys would be like “when he kills someone he reaffirms his message of division. We have to work together to reflect BLAH,”‘ Monae wrote.

‘CALL 4 IMPEACHMENT Speaker Pelosi, Stop dragging this OUT,’ she then added.

The singer and actress then went on hitting back at Fox News host Geraldo Rivera, who had jumped to Trump’s defence.

‘you are an enabler and not a good friend actually. Friends don’t lie to friends. STOP saying “you’re better than that” when you know it’s not true. HE HAS BEEN AN XENOPHOBIC RACIST. it is EXACTLY who he was and has always been. AND he is MENTALLY UNFIT to be PRESIDENT,’ she wrote, not mincing words.

Janelle Monae and activism

Monae recently made headlines for saying she wished her mom would have bought her a vibrator when she was younger.

Moreover, in a recent interview with Paper Magazine, Monae opened up about her advocacy on behalf of the transgender and nonbinary communities.

‘We have to be taught how to deal with bullies and bullies need to be taught the repercussions of bullying somebody,’ the Dirty Computer artist said of bullying.

‘In the same way we want white folks to support us and be better allies and use their privilege to make change in those power dynamics, it’s up to us to protect those who may not be as privileged,’ she continued. ‘Sexual identity needs to be taught in school. There should be courses on mental health, how to coexist, how we can all learn from each other,’ she then added.

She also said: ‘I look to Indya Moore, MJ Rodriquez, Janet Mock (my Pose family)… Laverne Cox. Those women are putting themselves and their lives on the frontline everyday,’ Monae stated.

‘When their trans sisters and brothers get murdered, they feel it. We have to support them. It’s just a responsibility I feel. I could do better. I’ll do better.’
