Jim Davidson, who has used anti-gay slurs, supports gay marriage

Celebrity Big Brother winner Jim Davidson has said, despite of what he’s said in the past, he supports gay marriage.

The right-wing comic and Conservative has praised Scotland for legalizing same-sex marriage, surprising those who remember his previous comments.

Back in 2007, the 60-year-old caused an uproar after he described gay TV presenter a ‘shirtlifter’ and a ‘fucking disgrace’ on ITV’s Hell Kitchen.

But now, in an interview with The Mirror, Davidson says: ‘I think that’s very good. I shared a house with a gay man for a while and I also remember when one of my gay friends’ partners died a good few years back there were all sorts of problems with the will.

‘So of course gay people should be allowed to be married. It’s great. And why should straight people suffer on their own?’

The five-times married staradded: ‘I’m not homophobic. All that probably comes from me saying what I said to Brian Dowling.

‘If people want to say that’s homophobic, let them. It’s ridiculous. I know what I am and all my gay friends know what I am.’
