JK Rowling has just given the perfect putdown to the anti-gay Westboro Baptist Church.
While we all know she’s a wizard of words, she responded to a homophobic troll with ease who claimed they would use Ireland’s vote for equal marriage by threatening to picket the fictional wedding of Harry Potter headmaster Dumbledore and the Lord of the Rings’ Gandalf.
‘@jk_rowling wants Dumbledore & Gandalf to marry in Ireland; if it happens WBC will picket! #NotBanned,’ they tweeted, using pictures of both characters, a child holding a God H8s Fag Marriage and references the Leviticus quote.

Rowling was very in favor of the ‘extraordinary and wonderful’ referendum result in Ireland, where 62% of people voted to legalise same-sex marriage.
When a Twitter user said the WBC was only getting publicity out of her tweet, and ‘giving them attention is counterproductive’.
‘I don’t care about WBC,’ she said in response.
‘I think it’s important that scared gay kids who aren’t out yet see hate speech challenged.’
Rowling has repeatedly shown she is in favor of LGBTI rights, ever since she revealed the headmaster of Hogwarts was gay – although that was never made explicitly clear in the novels.
