John Travolta’s former pilot sues actor over right to speak about their alleged affair

John Travolta, already hit with several gay-related lawsuits this year, is now being sued by a pilot who wants to be able to speak publicly about what he says was a six-year affair with the actor.

Doug Gotterba claims in a lawsuit filed this week that he was threatened with legal action by Travolta’s attorney Marty Singer after he reportedly spoke to the National Enquirer about his alleged relationship with the actor.

According to TMZ.com, Gotterba alleges that Singer said he violated a confidentiality agreement he had signed when he was an employee of Travolta.

Gotterba claims he signed a termination agreement that did not include anything about confidentiality. He maintains says he did nothing wrong and should be allowed to talk about Travolta without fear of a lawsuit.

Singer calls the lawsuit ‘ridiculous.’

‘Mr. Gotterba obviously filed this lawsuit to get his 15 minutes of fame,’ Singer says. ‘We plan to get this meritless case promptly dismissed.’

Joan Edwards, who worked for Travolta as a secretary from 1978 to 1994, discussed the alleged relationship with the National Enquirer earlier this year. She said Gotterba and she ‘both worked for John at the same time. Doug is a wonderful guy and we are still good friends. He told me that John was gay and they had a sexual relationship.’

The actor, whose film classics include Pulp Fiction, Grease, Saturday Night Live and Urban Cowboy, had faced a pair of lawsuits by two male masseurs accusing him of sexual battery and harassment. The lawsuits have since been withdrawn. A former Royal Caribbean Cruise line steward also claims he was sexually harassed by Travolta.

The actor’s attorney has denied all allegations.

Travolta has been married to actress Kelly Preston for more than 20 years and the couple has had three children including a son who died in his teens.
