Jonathan Ross to produce UK version of RuPaul’s Drag Race

Chat show host Jonathan Ross is producing a British version of hit US show RuPaul’s Drag Race.

While the straight presenter is unlikely to slip into the heels of the most famous drag queen on the planet, he said he was still up for finding Britain’s next drag superstar.

British drag queen and DJ Jodie Harsh will join him in the nationwide hunt for the campest, chicest cross-dresser in the country.

‘I’ve been working with Jodie on a UK version of RuPaul’s Drag Race,’ Ross told the Daily Star.

‘Unfortunately we have had to take a break because of some family issues. But we’re hoping to pick it up again in the near future.

‘I am definitely serving “middle-aged-realness!”.’

The 53-year-old chat show host said he was a huge fan of drag acts and of the US program, which is currently in its sixth season.

The first two seasons of the show first aired on E4, a UK entertainment channel, in 2009 and 2010.

While E4 did not show any more episodes after that, the show has seen a resurgence of popularity after seasons one to five became available on Netflix UK late last year.
