Julian Clary wins Celebrity Big Brother

Gay comic Julian Clary has won Celebrity Big Brother.

The much-loved camp comedian stormed to victory in the British reality program, which features 13 celebrities living together, competing in tasks, and nominating each other for eviction.

Beating TV presenter Coleen Nolan, Spandau Ballet singer Martin Kemp, and Jersey Shore star The Situation,  in the final, he said: ‘You have made a 53-year-old homosexual very happy.’

Clary went on to say winning the show had touched him more than he expected, saying he was an ‘emotional wreck’.

In an interview with CBB presenter and Big Brother 2 winner Brian Dowling, he was asked why he wasn’t ‘camp and crazy’ all the time.

‘Can you imagine living with someone like Kenneth Williams?’ he said. ‘You have to preserve your strength in there, because it’s so scary.

‘I was very tempted to go into my shell, so I apologize for not being constantly filthy.’

It was Clary’s second experience of reality TV after competing in BBC dance show Strictly Come Dancing in 2004, where he came third.

The comic has been a household name in Britain since the 1980s, forging a successful career in comedy, television and radio.

Clary said he will be going on tour very soon, titled ‘Position Vacant: Apply Within’, and assured viewers it would be a ‘constant stream of filth.’
