Kid Cudi ‘mad’ his gay kiss was cut from new film James White

Kid Cudi is ‘mad’ that a scene in which he kisses a male actor was cut from his new film James White.

The US rapper plays the gay best friend of the lead character but his sexuality is not the focus of the film, directed by Josh Mond.

‘When he comes out of the closet it’s not really a thing,’ he told Billboard before the premiere at Sundance Film Festival.

‘I think that’s something the world needs to see. ‘Cause it’s not a thing. We’re all equal.’

Cudi, real name Scott Mescudi, revealed that he shot scenes in which his character comes out as gay and kisses a male friend, played by David Call.

However, he did not find out the scenes had not made the final cut until the premiere.

‘I’m mad [Mond] cut out my kissing scenes with David,’ he said during an audience Q&A session after the film.

‘We made out so many times – and it was so good! That’s my only gripe.’

Did he have any hesitations playing a gay character and kissing a man?

‘No. My thing is what story are we trying to tell here,’ he said.

‘I didn’t flinch. I’m secure with mine. I’m an artist – it’s all about playing characters that are intriguing and stimulating.’
