The Killing Eve season 2 teaser is as gloriously queer as ever

Jodie Comer (L) and Sandra Oh (R) in Killing Eve, a show with LGBTI themes

Last year, everyone collectively fell in love and became obsessed with the BBC America series Killing Eve. The waiting for a second season has paid off because the first trailer is finally here.

Based on Luke Jennings’ novella series, Codename Villanelle, the series follows Eve Polastri (Sandra Oh), an MI5 officer tracking down a lethal assassin, Villanelle (Jodie Comer).

The first season became a hit with its addictive story, clever script, and wonderful performances.

It also garnered a devoted LGBTI fanbase. Villanelle may be a psychopathic assassin, but she’s also an endlessly compelling character, sleeping with both men and women as she forms strange attachments with people.

Perhaps what people loved most, however, was the dark and obsessive connection between Eve and Villanelle. Its continuation looks fraught and fascinating in the trailer below, especially the way the first season ended.

‘What are you looking for?’
‘A kitchen knife.’
‘What for?’
‘To stab you with.’

Oh, classic Villanelle.

Last year, the first season was critically acclaimed. Oh’s performance in a post-Grey’s Anatomy world earned her several awards, including a Golden Globe, SAG award, and a GALECA (Gay and Lesbian Entertainment Critics Association) award.

Killing Eve Season 2 arrives on 7 April.
