Presidential candidate Kirsten Gillibrand hung out with drag queens in Iowa back in April. Now, she’s back at that Des Moines gay bar, Blazing Saddles, to celebrate Pride month.
Taking drink orders
Gillibrand kicked off Pride month at Blazing Saddles by taking drink orders while answering questions about policy.

One man asked for Gillibrand’s favorite drink. She gave him a straight whiskey.
Guy asks @SenGillibrand what her favorite drink is to order it, just gets handed hers instead

Shopping with Chasten Buttigeig
Gillibrand was also spotted hanging out with the husband of fellow presidential hopeful Pete Buttigeig.
Gillibrand and Chasten Buttigeig went shopping at Des Moines-based retailer Raygun for some rainbow gear for Pride.
So this just happened. @Chas10Buttigieg is helping @SenGillibrand shop for pride. I love Iowa. #IACaucus #FirstRateFirstState #PrideMonth 🏳️🌈 pic.twitter.com/9QXw97Vcbo

LGBTI Rights Agenda
Gillibrand’s latest stop in Iowa comes just days after she released a huge LGBTI rights agenda. The agenda includes codifying marriage equality, banning conversion therapy nationally, and reversing the Trump Administration’s decision to ban transgender people from serving in the military.
‘The LGBTQ community is not a monolith with a finite set of needs, and equal rights and freedom from discrimination should be the bare minimum we accept,’ Gillibrand wrote.
‘As president, I will do more than defend LGBTQ rights — I will stand shoulder to shoulder with the LGBTQ community in the fight for equality. We’re in this together, because LGBTQ rights are human rights.’
