Balkan country of Kosovo hosted a Pride parade today.
People have taken to the streets to march against homophobia and transphobia in recent years.
But today’s Prishtina Pride is believed to be the country’s first official LGBTI Pride Parade.
10 October will be marked as Prishtina Pride every year from now on, reports say.
Dua Lipa tweeted in support of the event. Her parents lived in the capital of Kosovo, Prishtina, before moving to London where she was born.
She then moved back to Kosovo with her family in 2008. Two years later she moved back to London.
Kosovo had its first pride parade today in Prishtina. Love is love. Në emër të dashnisë ❤️🏳️🌈

The Parade was titled ‘In the name of love.’
Nine different non-governmental groups came together to organize the event.
It was in an attempt to raise awareness of LGBTI issues and end prejudice in Kosovo society.
President Hashim Thaçi attended the parade.
Previously he was Prime Minister of Kosovo. While in this position, he announced the country’s independence from Serbia.
