Kristen Stewart is officially one of our new Charlie’s Angels

There’s a new Charlie’s Angel reboot happening in Hollywood and one of our new Angels happens to be none other than gay icon Kristen Stewart.

After plenty of rumors and speculation, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed the movie on Thursday (26 July) and its cast.

Joining Stewart will be Naomi Scott, known for her work in the recent Power Rangers movie and Disney’s upcoming live-action Aladdin, as well as newcomer Ella Balinska.

It was previously rumored that Lupita Nyong’o would be in the film.

Elizabeth Banks is directing the new action flick for Sony. She will also be in front of the camera as Bosley, the point of contact between the Angels and the mysterious Charlie Townsend.

In the new film, which Banks is producing with her husband via their Brownstone Productions banner, the operation goes international.

Townsend Agency is now a worldwide intelligence organization, with teams all across the globe. This new trio of Angels is one of those teams.

Is it time for a new generation to have their Angels?

Banks called Charlie’s Angels ‘one of the original brands to celebrate the empowered woman’ since it first debuted as a television series in the 70s.

‘This film honors the legacy of Charles Townsend and his agency while introducing a new era of modern and global Angels,’ she continued. ‘I couldn’t be more excited to work with Kristen, Naomi and Ella to bring this chapter to fans around the world.’

But are people ready to let go over the 2000s iteration starring Drew Barrymore, Lucy Liu, and Cameron Diaz? They starred in two films, Charlie’s Angels in 2000 and the sequel, Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle in 2003. They were a big part of a lot of people’s childhoods.

On Twitter, though, people are excited about the new version.

This is ultimately what we all really want:

Sony has a premiere date of 27 September 2019 for the film.
