One of Australia’s biggest pop exports Kylie Minogue will play NYC Pride’s Pride Island party this June (the same year one of the US’s biggest pop exports, Cher, plays Sydney Mardi Gras!)
Wow singer Kylie will headline in New York City at the new Pride Island venue, Pier 97, on the Sunday night (24 June 2018.)
‘One of the iconic pop artists of all time’
Speaking to Gay Star News, Chris Frederick, NYC Pride’s Managing Director said: ‘Kylie Minogue is one of the most iconic pop artists of all time and we’re excited to have her perform live for the first time at NYC Pride!’
Kylie has scored two Top 10 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 since breaking onto the global music scene in the late ’80s.
The Loco-Motion reached number three in 1988. Can’t Get You Out of My Head – of course, the star’s biggest hit worldwide to date – reached number seven in 2002.
She recently returned with her Nashville-recorded new single Dancing.
It precedes the album Golden, due for release in April. It will be studio album number 14 for Kylie!
Furthermore, Kylie will be joined at this year’s festival by Swedish star Tove Lo [above].
The singer is known for her hit Habits (Stay High), which reached number three on the Billboard Hot 100.
Her other tracks include Cool Girl and Talking Body. She’ll headline the festival on the Saturday night, 23 June.
Continuing, Frederick added: ‘As we prepare to welcome a record number of attendees for Stonewall 50/WorldPride 2019 NYC, our move to our new home on Pier 97 is just one of several new venues, new events, and new experiences we will launch in 2018 to prepare for next year’s massive crowd.’
Tickets for Pride Island go on sale at noon on Thursday, 1 March at nycpride.org.
