Are Lady Gaga and Rosie O’Donnell going to be in a Broadway musical together?

Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga might be following up her role in the acclaimed new iteration of A Star Is Born with a run on Broadway.

According to reports, the singer might star in a revival of Funny Girl, with Rosie O’Donnell playing her mother.

The news came during opening night of Randy Rainbow’s show at The Paramount. O’Donnell was there, and spilled the beans on the news.

ABC reporter Brian O’Keefe first tweeted about the unexpected casting announcement.

Another person who was at the show quickly confirmed it.

Barbara Streisand first made the role of Fanny Brice famous in the original 1964 Broadway production and later in the 1968 film. If the news is true, this will be the second time Gaga has played the same role as Streisand.

Streisand, of course, starred in her own iteration of A Star Is Born in the 70s.

EGOT goals?

It’s impossible to say if the news is true or not, and, if it is, whether or not it will actually happen.

It doesn’t stop the dreams of seeing Gaga on Broadway, though, and trying to EGOT.

EGOT is an acronym for four award shows: Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony. Some past winners include Audrey Hepburn and Mel Brooks. Most recently, John Legend, Tim Rice, and Andrew Lloyd Webber all became EGOT winners after their TV production of Jesus Christ Superstar won an Emmy.

So far, Gaga only has the Grammy. Many are saying, however, that she has the potential to win an Oscar next year for A Star Is Born, either as Lead Actress or for Original Song. Could a Tony be next?

A Star Is Born opened in the US this weekend. It boasts a 91% on Rotten Tomatoes and has so far earned over $44 million.
