Last season of Glee to include a singing quarterback who happens to be gay

Kurt and Blaine won’t be the only prominent gay male characters when Glee returns for its sixth and final season next month.

Marshall Williams will play Spencer, the quarterback at McKinley High School who is also a member of the glee club and who is also gay.

When casting for the role, the character was described this way: ‘He’s post-Glee gay — no one messes with him about his sexuality because he will kick their asses if they do.’

Williams was a finalist on Canadian Idol in 2008 and has many onscreen acting credits including How to Build a Better Boy, Pete’s Christmas, Saving Hope and Headcase.

Glee’s last season kicks off on 9 January with a two-hour episode.
