Lauren Jauregui has dropped new single Expectations – and takes bi-visibility to the next level in the accompanying video by giving herself a lap dance.

However, the sensuous black and white clip doesn’t exactly have a happy ending…

Lauren, whose debut single was her Halsey duet Strangers, served as a creative director on the video.

‘It’s not what everyone assumes I’m gonna be making’

In a new interview with Rolling Stone, she said of the slow tempo track: ‘There’s this whole precedent that there should be some sort of expectation of what’s to come, but it’s very unexpected.’

‘It’s not what everyone assumes I’m gonna be making,’ she furthermore added. ‘Which is why I love it.’

The 22-year-old broke onto the music scene in 2012 when she appeared on X Factor as part of the girl group Fifth Harmony. After the show, they became known for world-conquering hits such as Work From Home and Worth It.

When founding member Camila Cabello quit in late 2016, sales slowed and the band ultimately went on an indefinite hiatus back in March.

‘I am a bisexual Cuban-American woman’

In November 2016 Jauregui came out as bisexual in and open letter to Donald Trump supporters. In the letter she said: ‘I am a bisexual Cuban-American woman and I am so proud of it. I am proud to be part of a community that only projects love and education and the support of one another.’

The song is set to be part of her debut album, expected sometime next year.
