The 1975’s lead singer Matty Healy has revealed he ‘kind of’ wants to kiss guys.

The ‘Chocolate’ singer from Manchester has opened about his sexuality in a revealing interview.

Speaking to Shortlist magazine, the 29-year-old said he has kissed men in the past, and would happily do so again.

Matty Healy: ‘I want to kiss guys’

Asked if he’s attracted to men, Matty replied: ‘Yes, but not in a carnal, sexual way.

‘The other sex is still attractive. It’s just that sex is weird, isn’t it? Do you know what I mean?’

We don’t understand, Matty. Please go on.

‘It’s like, “Do I want to do blow jobs with a guy? No. Do I want to a kiss a guy? Yeah, kind of…’

Matty says the first ‘passionate’ kiss he ever saw as a child was between two male dancers. He was watching backstage at one of his mother Denise Welch’s shows.

The event, which sparked his sexuality, made him crave the same ‘intimacy’.

He says he was exposed to LGBTI people growing up. Matty said he ‘looked up’ to his parents’ successful gay friends.

Looking up to ‘gay successes’

And so, Matty associates those comfortable with their sexuality with ‘freedom of expression’ and finds the openness ‘engaging’.

‘When I was a kid most of the people [around me] who were successful and doing what they wanted to do were gay,’ he explained.

‘I think I looked up to them, not as pariahs or outsiders, but as people who were truly themselves. I’ve always found that engaging.’

The Chocolate hitmaker went to a rehab facility in Barbados last year for heroin addiction.

He apologized to his mother, saying it was ‘completely not’ her fault.

Addressing her son’s comments earlier this month, Loose Women panellist Denise said: ‘I’m just proud of both of my children because they are following their dreams. They’re both doing brilliantly.’
