Injuries sustained to Sabrina Hooks

A group of five people brutally bashed a lesbian couple in a Los Angeles restaurant on 29 October.

The incident occurred at around 3am when Sabrina Hooks and her girlfriend, identified as Morgan, walked in to the Jack in the Box on Imperial and Figueroa and sat down.

A group of people walked in after them and one of the men started taunting the lesbian couple, commenting on their attire and lifestyle.

The verbal tirade escalated with an argument back and forth.

Sabrina told Eyewitness News: ‘They said… I’m a dyke and I’m gay and I had to keep my “hoe in check”.

‘It was like a horror movie, except I wasn’t watching it… I was in it,’ she said.

Then it got physical between Sabrina and the man. His friends jumped in and Sabrina suffered kicks to the head that knocked some of her teeth out.

The attackers left Sabrina unconscious and her girlfriend bruised and battered.

Morgan told Fox 11: ‘Looking at her makes me want to cry every single time I look at her. To just assume that two guys can seriously put their hands on a female, it’s shocking.

‘But what is anger gonna do? It’s not gonna fix her face,’ she added.

Public support for the lesbian couple

A GoFundMe page is raising money to help Sabrina pay for unplanned medical bills and dental work.

Set up by concerned friends, Capri and Taylor, the page has raised over $3,000 (€2,571 £2,274).

Sabrina said: ‘I’ve never been a person that’s really been anxious, or nervous or scared about things. All of my friends can tell you I’m a pretty bold person.

‘But this has really changed that. It’s put a dark cloud around that type of person that I am,’ she said.
