Female PE teacher in the UK jailed 18 months for grooming schoolgirls for sex

A female PE teacher from Stoke, Coventry has been jailed 18 months for grooming two teenage schoolgirls between May 2008 and November 2011, and having sex with one of them

Sandrine Brown, 31, was arrested in 2014 after the victims had left the school.

She pleaded guilty to one charge of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity while in a position of trust, and five further counts of sexual activity with a child.

According to news reports, the Warwick Crown Court heard that Brown got close to the first girl when she was 13-years-old in May 2008.

They started a sexual relationship a year later when the schoolgirl was 14 after becoming close during the summer holidays.

They engaged in sexual activity in the PE department store room in the school and Brown’s car.

The youngster also began sleeping over at Brown’s flat in Stoke, Coventry.

The former teacher then made contact with the girl’s friend who was 16 at the time, starting a relationship with her in January 2010, after persuading her she was gay, the UK Express reported.

Judge Richard Griffiths-Jones, Recorder of Coventry, accepted while Brown did not have a relationship with the victims at the same time, he called it a tragedy for both the girls and the former teacher.

‘This is a tragedy for the two now young women who were young girls at the time. It’s also a tragedy for you because you were blessed with intelligence and athleticism and sensitivity and you worked in a responsible position.

He added, ‘There couldn’t be a greater betrayal of that responsibility to have these developing young people in your care and to be so weak and self-indulgent as to take advantage of them sexually. They will carry it with them, as you will.’

The Daily Mail noted that Brown showed no emotion when she was sentenced in court on Friday.

Brown will also be put on the Sex Offenders Register for 10 years.
