Leslie Jordan tries for Super Bowl airtime with crunchy and bold Doritos commercial

He won an Emmy for his role as Beverly Leslie on Will & Grace, starred in Sordid Lives on stage and screen, and now has a recurring role on American Horror Story: Coven.

But openly gay actor Leslie Jordan has another dream: He wants to be in a Super Bowl commercial for Doritos.

In a spot written and produced by twins Gary and Larry Lane of Hollywood to Dollywood fame, Jordan goes up against some hunky models at a Doritos commercial audition and emerges with the job.

He gets bolder and bolder and finally disrobes – but a couple of bags of strategically placed Doritos bags keeps this spot raged PG!

Jordan tells Gay Star News: ‘Let’s get this thing viral! Doritos is all I’ve been eating at the American Horror Story Craft table with Kathy Bates!’

‘We just pray Doritos thinks we are Bold enough for Middle America,’ Gary Lane tells GSN.

The twins had entered the spot into a nationwide contest with the hopes of getting the commercial selected for airing during the Super Bowl telecast. But they found out this morning (6 December) that their commercial did not make the top 25 semi-finalists.

‘Seeing our idea go from start to finish, we know that Doritos loss is our gain,’ Gary Lane wrote on Facebook. ‘I’m going to buy a big bag of RUFFLES! They have ridges.’

Still, the Lanes and Jordan are hoping to create enough online buzz to make Doritos regret their decision. There is still a chance for them to sneak in within the next two days of any of the top 25 do not get the proper paperwork submitted.

Below is the 30-second commercial followed by an extended version:
