Mzz Kimberly takes to the stage at Digital Pride: the Festival

Digital Pride: The Festival has kicked off at London’s Heaven nightclub, with performances from the London Gay Big Band, Christopher Haul, Martin Fitch and Mzz Kimberly.

Also greeting attendees is the Digital Pride: The Festival host Margaret Thatcher: Queen of Soho.

Speaking to Gay Star News backstage, Maggie explained what pride means to her, saying ‘It was a lovely film!’ before adding ‘It’s being proud of one’s self, one’s actions and one’s community and society. It’s saying, loudly, “Here I am – vote for me!”‘

Asked what issue effecting the LGBTI community is closest to her heart, Maggie replied ‘Me!’

Meanwhile Christopher Haul, the first act of the day, told us: ‘I come from a small village in South Wales where people aren’t as openminded as other parts of the UK. To me, pride as about spreading a message.’

Martin Fitch added: ‘The biggest problem in the world is we’re getting more conservative than ever. It’s not even old people, it’s young people right now. I’m from Poland, where there are a lot of things happening. So it’s important to be together and say “We’re here.”‘
