A man has been jailed for 25 years for tricking more than 30 teenage boys into sending him naked and explicit photos by posing as a woman.
Daniel Avetta, 27, used a fake Facebook profile and other social media with the name Jessica Gable to deceive the boys, according to the St Louis Post-Dispatch.
Authorities also claimed Avetta, from Missouri, persuaded two of the boys to engage in sex acts by claiming to have terminal cancer.
As he groomed them, he would send the minors nude images and explicit photos of self-harm.
The courts heard how he persuaded mostly 15- and 16-year-old boys to send him the photos.
Will be monitored for the rest of his life
Avetta pleaded guilty in August to 12 of the charges, including online enticement of a minor and producing child pornography.
He was sentenced on Wednesday. After being released from prison, he will be supervised for life.
The defense, represented by attorney Beverly Ann Beimdiek, told the court Avetta was abused and neglected by his family. She added he was a ‘lonely, awkward and geographically isolated person’ and he was made to live in an unheated garage from the age of 10.
The defense also said he suffered from anxiety, depression, ADHD, and PTSD.
