Anyone who has seen Margaret Cho’s concert film I’m the One That I Want knows about the torment the bisexual actress and comic endured over her appearance while doing the ABC sitcom All-American Girl.
She famously starved herself for weeks – network executives thought her face was too round – and suffered kidney failure.
But that was 20 years ago and Cho has come a long way since then when it comes to her self-esteem and self-image.
This week on Facebook, Cho had this very direct message to any detractors when it comes to her physical appearance:
‘I may be called fat – I am proud of that. I enjoy every ounce on me and every bite of food that made me that way. I may be called old, as I have enjoyed every second of my life. But if you call me ugly, you have only yourself to blame. I am beautiful in every way, and if you cannot see that, I feel sorry for you.’
Well said Margaret!
