Matt Lucas has made light of EastEnders recasting the role of Ben in typical Matt Lucas style.

It was yesterday announced that Waterloo Road actor Max Bowden would play Phil Mitchell’s son.

He is the fifth actor to play the role. The last actor to play Ben was harry Reid from 2014 to 2018.

‘I’m next week’s Ben Mitchell’

Reacting to news of Max’s casting, comic Matt wrote on Twitter: ‘Thrilled to announce I’m next week’s Ben Mitchell.’

Speaking about his new role, Bowden enthused: ‘I’m so excited to be joining the cast of EastEnders and taking on the role of Ben Mitchell.’

‘I’ve always been a fan of the show so to be joining one of the most iconic families in soap is beyond exciting,’ he furthermore added.

‘I can’t wait to get started and see what’s in store for Ben,’ he also added.

Max has also previously acted in TV shows such as Doctors and Casualty.

Matt of course shot to fame in seminal BBC comedy alongside David Walliams.

The openly gay star has since appeared in blockbuster movies like Alice in Wonderland and Bridesmaids.
