Meet the first practicing Muslim to be a finalist in a Mr Gay pageant

Bijat is a finalist for Mr Gay Belgium

Meet Bijat Abdellah, a 22-year-old gay guy.

And not only that, but he is believed to be the first ever finalist in a Mr Gay pageant that was born into a Muslim family and continued to practice the Muslim faith.

Hoping to land the title of Mr Gay Belgium, Bijat is hoping to ‘make a difference for LGBTI people in multicultural communities’. He has been competing against nine other guys for the title.

‘In the Qu’ran it says that we should be tolerant and open,’ he says. ‘That means respecting others, no matter what their preferences are.’

You can vote for Bijat here.

Take a look at a few pictures of Bijat below:

UPDATE: After this report, it became clear Abdellah was not the first Muslim to enter into a competition such as this. Michael Sinan, who converted to Islam when he was only 10, won Mr Gay Denmark in 2012.
