Ben Domenech, the husband of Meghan McCain (daughter of the late John McCain), went on a sudden and homophobic Twitter rant against NBC writer-comedian Seth Meyers.
McCain appeared on the former SNL writer and performer’s Late Night talk show on Tuesday (7 May) night.
Their sit-down together became tense, with McCain accusing the liberal Meyers of treating her unfairly. One of the tenser moments of the interview, in which Meyers questioned McCain’s comments about Rep. Ilhan Omar (D) supposed ‘anti-Semitism’.
On Wednesday (8 May), Domenech, founder of the conservative website The Federalist, published his since-deleted Twitter rant.
What did he say?
Screencaps of Domenech’s tweets show him using inflammatory and homophobic language.
‘I see that @sethmeyers, the untalented piece of shit who only has his job because he regularly gargled Lorne Michaels’ balls, went after my wife tonight with his idiotic anti-Semitic bullshit,’ he wrote in the first tweet.

He then went on to call Meyers an ‘awful person’ and ‘monumental asshole’. Domenech added Meyers ‘deserves the mockery he receives’.

As the tweets continued, Domenech said Meyers is ‘proof that white men get ahead despite their obvious lack of talent’. He also wrote that ‘all the people around @sethmeyers talk about what a shitty person he is’.

Later Wednesday morning, Domenech apologized in a new tweet, justifying his words by writing: ‘I love my wife.’
He acknowledged he doesn’t like Meyers and that he thinks the writer is a ‘hack’, but said he shouldn’t have done what he did.
‘I’m sorry to anyone I offended,’ he concluded.

Neither McCain nor Meyers have released any statements about Domenech’s comments.
