Modern Family actor Jesse Tyler Ferguson posted a photo on Instagram yesterday announcing that he had received treatment for cancer.
Making light of the situation, the 40-year-old gay star posted a photo with a dressing attached to the side of his face, and the message: ‘Thank you to Dr. Bennett & his entire team for taking the cancer out of my face. Good luck hiding the stitches tomorrow @modernfamily_makeuphair!’

The Daily Mail reports that Ferguson has frequently undertaken work for cancer charities, and that his husband, Justin Mikita, was successfully treated for Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma as a 13-year-old.
Tyler Ferguson did not respond to any Instagram queries about the surgery on his face. As a fair-skinned, red-head, he would be more susceptible to the sun’s harmful effects, and it’s possibly that he had any suspicious moles or cells removed at an early stage.
The actor is best known for playing the role of Mitchel Pritchett on the hit comedy show Modern Family, alongside Eric Stonestreet, who plays his husband, Cameron Tucker.
Indicating that he was quickly able to resume work, he later posted another Instagram photo of him on set with co-star Stonestreet and Aubrey Anderson-Emmons, who plays their daughter, Lily.
