Netflix brings the Fab Five to Japan for four episodes of new Queer Eye

The Queer Eye Fab Five

Streaming giant Netflix will bring the Fab Five to Japan for four special episodes of Queer Eye: We’re in Japan!

The Fab Five – Antoni Porowski (Food & Wine), Bobby Berk (Interior Design), Jonathan Van Ness (Grooming), Karamo Brown (Culture), and Tan France (Fashion) – will go on a tour of the Asian country. The new episodes will air in 2019.

But first, the third season in Kansas City

A third season, set in Kansas City, Missouri, will anticipate the new episodes. Netflix hasn’t announced a release date for the new American season yet, but production is well underway.

Last year, Queer Eye also earned three Emmys, included one for Outstanding Structured Reality Program.

The show is a reboot of the Bravo series Queer Eye for the Straight Guy. The first seasons took the guys around Atlanta and surrounding Georgian towns. Moreover, a special episode took over New South Wales, Australia.

Welcome to Japan

In the usual format of the makeover show, the Fab Five will forge relationships with four Japanese men and women. The participants come from different backgrounds and cultures and were selected from a wide group of applicants and nominations.

‘In just a year since we launched season one, Queer Eye has become a global phenomenon once again and the Fab Five are truly the ambassadors of self-care and compassion that the world needs now more than ever,’ said David Collins. Collins is Creator and Executive Producer of Queer Eye.

Furthermore, he added: ‘Filming in Japan is a wonderful opportunity for us to work with four deserving heroes that will help showcase the incredible traditions and customs of their country.’

Queer Eye meets Marie Kondo

Bobby Berk tweeted a picture of himself and the others on a plane heading to Japan.

‘We’re here!!!’ he captioned the image.

What’s more, fans can barely contain the excitement and are already calling for a Queer Eye and Marie Kondo crossover episode.

Japanese organizing consultant and author Kondo is the latest Netflix star with her show Tidying Up with Marie Kondo.

‘IF @jvn DOES NOT PUT HIS HAIR UP IN SAILOR MOON ODANGOS, I will still watch, but I will pout,’ one fan wrote.
