Nick Jonas admits he and his brothers did not acknowledge gay fans

Give Nick Jonas credit for business smarts. He’s doing all he can to get, and keep, LGBTI admirers.

The 22-year-old, who had a birthday this week, has been spending time showing a little skin at gay clubs in New York City and publicly declaring love to his gay fans.

The Jonas friendship initiative continued over at the site NewNowNext. He talked about starting out in theater and being accepted by Dorothy’s friends.

When he and his brothers turned popular, the performer admits they didn’t do much to acknowledge the group’s gay groupies.

‘I grew up doing theater here in New York, surrounded by [the gay community] and loving it at a young age, ‘ he said to NewNowNext. ‘When my brothers and I started touring and had some success, naturally they became a pretty big part of our following.  I don’t know that we ever did enough to really own that.’

Those days are gone now that he’s on his own.

‘I really want to make an effort to embrace the community with open arms.’

You got GSN love, Nick. You’ll get a whole lot more if you give us an interview!  Below is the NewNowNext clip:
