Nicola Formichetti covers Dazed and Confused December issue

Nicola Formichetti, fashion director for Lady Gaga, Uniqlo and Vogue Hommes Japan is on the cover of this month’s Dazed and Confused.

Photographed by Matt Irwin, the half-Italian, half-Japanese fashion director and editor appears alongside the magazine’s other cover model Angelababy.

The December issue is titled under the hash-tag Fantasia and features a compilation of Asia’s rising creative talent including artists, actors, models and bloggers.

Formichetti was raised between Tokyo and Rome, and was born again in London’s club scene when he dropped architecture for a self-taught schooling of eclectic style and fashion. He became a buyer for The Pineal Eye Boutique in Soho until he was asked to contribute to English magazine Dazed and Confused.

The 35-year old is the new creative director for French fashion house MUGLER, contributing fashion Director of Vogue Hommes Japan and a contributing fashion editor of V Magazine and VMAN in the US.

He is perhaps most known for his collaborations with Lady Gaga, which include styling her music video Bad Romance. He met Lady Gaga in 2009 at a photo shoot for V Magazine. Their relationship immediately grew, and he shortly thereafter became her fashion director.

The duo continuously express their commitment to sharing their visions with the world, as Formichetti’s web-page is a mosaic of his Instagram photos taken from his journeys all over the world.

The British Fashion Awards awarded Formichetti the Isabella Blow Award for Fashion Creator in 2010.
