He’s known for his cheeky questions on his talk show Watch What Happens Live. But it seems Andy Cohen’s interviewing style irked actress Nicole Kidman on CNN’s New Year’s Eve Live on Sunday night.
The Big Little Lies star appeared on the channel’s live coverage via satellite link with her husband Keith Urban from Nashville.
Andy was in New York for the extravaganza, along with his friend and co-host Anderson Cooper.
During the segment, Andy brought up Nicole’s legendary clapping meme from the 2017 Oscars.

To this, Keith replied: ‘I mean, it’s called a logical clap when you don’t want to slam your hands together with rings. But what do you want to do?’
‘I wish that there was more important things to be concerned about’
With perfect poise, Nicole chimed in: ‘I wish that there was more important things to be concerned about or that people were focused on more important things than that sort of clapping. That’s what I would say.’

Seconds later, the interview got 10 times more awkward with Keith losing his earpiece and talking over the presenters.
The barely-detectable shade wasn’t lost on Andy, though. ‘That was amazing. That was so cool that Nicole Kidman joined in. I think she just shaded me a little bit,’ said Andy.
‘Well yeah, she did,’ Cooper replies.
‘I guess she’s not coming on my show!’ Andy laughs, before furthermore adding: ‘Why was that such a bad question!?’
