While Pride in Newry is still celebrating after been announced as the hosts of UK Pride next year, Northern Pride has been chosen as the location for 2020.

The organizers announced their victory on their official channels.

‘We announced our bid for this title a few weeks ago and since then, have been overwhelmed with messages of support from our community and local businesses,’ the organizers wrote in a post.

They also added: ‘We cannot explain the pride we have for the Northeast and our LGBTI community. It is you all, who give us the inspiration and determination to continue doing what we do, year after year.’

Congratulations to Newry

Northern Pride also congratulated Pride in Newry on their victory for 2019.

‘We’d also like to take this opportunity to congratulate Pride in Newry for successfully winning their bid for 2019.’

‘We’ve had an opportunity to meet both Newry and Belfast this weekend, which has brought to life the continued fight for equality our community has, as close to home as Northern Ireland.’

Marriage equality in Northern Ireland

Moreover, organizers supported Newry, hoping marriage equality will soon turn into reality in the country.

‘We pledge to fully support the teams in Northern Ireland in their fight for marriage equality. We are looking forward to successfully delivering our 2019 campaigns, Pride In Sport, Pride in Schools Award and Trans Generations.’

Finally, they wrote: ‘We can’t wait to welcome everyone regardless of gender or sexuality in 2020, as we bring UK Pride to the North East.’

The date for next year’s Pride

Furthermore, Northern Pride announced the dates for 2019. The parade in Newcastle will take place from 19-21 July.
