Oklahoma lawmaker files three bills targeting LGBTs

Oklahoma State Represenative Sally Kern, who is known for her consistent stance against same-sex marriage, has introduced a series of bills that targets same-sex marriage and LGBTs.

The Republican lawmaker, who made the headlines when she said the ‘homosexual agenda’ is a bigger threat to America than terrorism, is now taking aim at the state’s decision to legalize gay marriage last year.

Dubbed the ‘Preservation and Sovereignty of Marriage Act,’ House Bill 1599 would prevent taxpayer dollars or governmental salaries from being used for ‘the licensing or support of same-sex marriage.’

According to local media reports, under the bill no local or state employee would be allowed to quote ‘officially recognize, grant or enforce a same-sex marriage license and continue to receive a salary, pension or other employee benefit.’

Officials, inclduing judges, who violate this act could also be removed from office.

Two other bills were filed.

House Bill 1598 ‘Freedom to Obtain Conversion Therapy Act’ would allow parents to seek counseling and therapy to help change a child’s sexual orientation, without interference from the state.

House Bill 1597 would allow any business in the state to refuse to provide any services to any gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender person or group.
