Olivia Colman has shared a sweet story about the time she sort of bought a work of art by Keith Haring.

The Oscar-winning actress revealed the past purchase while attending the Art For Eve fundraiser at Bonhams auction house yesterday.

Discussing iconic LGBTI artists at the reception in London, she told GSN: ‘I love Keith Haring’s work.’ (Prints from the famous New Yorker, who passed away in 1990 of HIV/AIDS-related illnesses, were featured at last night’s auction).

‘My flatmate at university used to save up and try and buy his work’ Olivia explained. ‘For her 30th, we clubbed together and got her some. I gave my mate 50 quid towards it!’

‘A great moment’

The star also reflected on lighting up social media at this year’s BAFTAs after she said ‘gay rights‘ into a fan’s camera phone.

‘I didn’t realize I had!’ she laughed, furthermore calling the video ‘a great moment.’

Olivia won the Best Actress BAFTA and Best Actress Oscar earlier this year for her role as Queen Anne in The Favourite. The movie, also starring Rachel Weisz and Emma Stone, featured strong lesbian themes.

Art for Eve has so far raised over £400,000 ($520,000, €464,000) for the Eve Appeal, which focuses on funding world-class research in the prevention and early diagnosis of all five gynaecological cancers – womb, ovarian, cervical, vaginal and vulva.

Olivia is a celebrity supporter of the organization, alongside gay TV presenter Paul O’Grady.
