Oprah Winfrey has quite the nickname for presidential runner Pete Buttigieg.
The TV host revealed in an interview with Hollywood Reporter that she’s been reading the hopeful’s book, The Shortest Way Home, to prep for the 2020 election.
‘I call him Buttabeep, Buttaboop,’ Winfrey said. ‘The name’s either going to really hurt or [really help]. I think it’s going to help, actually.’
Buttigieg penned the book, his autobiography, earlier this year.
The reviews were positive, with the likes of the New York Times and Washington Post sounding off about the book.
But added to the list of readers is director Steven Spielberg.
‘Just the other day, I was at Apple with Spielberg and we were in the hallway talking about, “What are we going to do?”
‘And I said, “Have you heard of this Butta guy?”
‘He goes, “No, Butta-who?”
‘I go, “Buttabeep, Buttaboop. Look him up,”‘ Winfrey says.
‘A bigger deal than coming in second in a poll’
During an interview with Boston Public Radio, Buttigieg shared his excitement over Winfrey name-dropping him.
Buttigieg said: ‘In the car on the way over, somebody just said that Oprah mentioned me.
‘Which is arguably a bigger deal than coming in second in a poll.’
Buttigieg reportedly had a lunch with Winfrey in Los Angeles, California, last weekend.
Who is Pete Buttigieg?
