Perez Hilton to try and be reality show star

He’s written plenty about reality stars like the Kardashians, the Jersey Shore gang and all those Real Housewives in various zip codes.

Now blogger Perez Hilton is seeking reality show stardom himself in Gay Dads of New York.

Hilton, whose real name is Mario Lavandeira, is teaming up with the production company behind The Real World franchise and Keeping Up With the Kardashians on the project, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Hilton made the anouncement on his Twitter account Wednesday (4 December) and described the opportunity as a ‘#gamechanger.’

<'I am so happy,' he said in tweet.

Jonathan Murray, Gil Goldschein and Scott Freeman of Bunim/Murray Productions will executive produce with OMG Productions which includes Hilton, Suzy Unger, and Steven Grossman.

Hilton, who became a first-time father last year, has dabbled in television before with VH1’s What Perez Says and ITV’s Perez Hilton Super Fan.

He promises the new show will not be ‘trashy or boring.’

‘I am honored and excited to bring to television a show that will be filled with love, humor and drama,’ he tells THR. ‘Up until now people know me more for my opinions than who I am. This show will give viewers the opportunity to get to know the "real" Perez Hilton and my family, as well as some other really dynamic gay dads, and the women that make up their support system.’

Hilton recently relocated from Los Angeles to New York City.
