Piers Morgan has mocked Sam Smith after the Stay With Me singer reasserted their ‘non-binary genderqueer’ identity last week.

Sam spoke to The Good Place actor Jameela Jamil about body issues on the show I Weigh.

Speaking on the video interview, the star also said: ‘I am not male or female. I think I float somewhere in between — somewhat on the spectrum.’

However, Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan seemed unimpressed when discussing Sam’s comments on his show today.

‘Is it a generational thing?’

‘OK, I’m now identifying as Sam Smith, so I can get his royalties,’ he told co-host Susanna Reid. ‘So this works both ways. Sam Smith has millions of fans, what are they supposed to think? “I can’t work out what I am.”’

He furthermore added: ‘Is it a generational thing? My young sons don’t care about this whole gender thing. They really don’t care. ‘They think I’m just an old fuddy duddy. “It doesn’t matter, why do you care, Dad?”’

He went on: ‘I think there are so many ramifications around self identity that actually are a real concern.’
