Protesters threw a queer dance party outside Mike Pence's home

Hundreds of protesters assembled outside Mike Pence’s Washington DC home last night – to hold a queer dance party.

Planned and organized by WERK for Peace and DisruptJ20, it was a protest against Pence’s anti-LGBTI views.

The Vice President-elect in the past has advocated for dangerous so-called ‘gay cure’ therapies.

‘We are here tonight to send a clear message to Daddy Pence that we will not tolerate bigotry and hate in our country,’ organizer Firas Nasr said according to CNN.

‘We are here today to take the streets as our dance floor.’

From their meeting point at Friendship Heights Metro station, the colorful crew peacefully danced towards the Pence family home in Chevy Chase.

According to reporters on the ground, police were blocking the path to Pence’s home.

The family’s neighbors were more welcoming, though, and as they came to witness the spectacle some of them even brought snacks for the visitors.

‘It’s the most exciting thing that’s happened in our neighborhood,’ one of the neighbors, Suzanne Frederick, told CNN.

Decked out in tutus, golden party hats and with plenty of glitter, glowsticks and noisemakers at hand, the group danced to the beats of gay icons including Lady Gaga, Beyoncé and Whitney Huston.

They also had messages for Donald Trump’s future right-hand man, appealing to his humanity and mission to serve all Americans.

‘We are here tonight to send a clear message to Daddy Pence that we will not tolerate bigotry and hate in our country,’ Stephanie Fritsch from Pennsylvania told CNN.

‘We are here today to take the streets as our dance floor.’

The only one in the neighborhood to miss out on the party, despite chants of ‘Daddy Pence, come dance’, was Pence.

While protestors were having fun outside his family’s house, the Vice President-elect was hosting his Inaugural Dinner at the National Portrait Gallery.
