With less than two weeks to go before the deadline closes, the race is on to host the tenth Gay Games in 2018.
Organizations from Rio de Janeiro, Limerick, London, Paris and Orlando have all submitted requests to the international Federation of Gay Games (FGG).
‘We will know which cities are truly interested in a few more days,’ said FGG co-president Kurt Dahl. ‘The groups already expressing an interest offer a great choice. We urge any cities considering a bid to submit the request for information document on time, so as to remain in consideration.
‘Time is running out to express interest in hosting the largest international sports and culture festival in the world open to all,’ Dahl added.
If interested in making a bid for hosting the games, request for information documents and background information on the games can be found at the Gay Games X website.
A first review of potential bidders is expected for release by the end of the July.
Voting on the Gay Games X host will begin in 2013. The ninth Gay Games will take place in Cleveland, USA, in August 2014.
