Rapper sorry over Jason Collins VMA anti-gay remark

US rapper A$AP Rocky has apologized to basketball player Jason Collins for his alleged homophobic behaviour at VMA’s.

At the Video Music Awards on 25 August the ‘Fuckin Problems’ rapper appeared on stage with newly out US basketball star Jason Collins.

The pair were introducing rapper Macklemore to the stage to perform his hit song about gay love ‘Same Love’.

Collins made a short speech about gay equality and A$AP Rocky’s behavior and mannerisms made many viewers feel uncomfortable.

Several commentators spoke about the rapper and how he came across as awkward, and asking whether it was so because he was uncomfortable being on stage with a gay man.

The moment was turned into several memes and gifs that spread around the internet.

In an interview with The Stashed, the rapper addressed the accusations he might be homophobic.

‘I’m mad that my facial expressions was like that because I’m not homophobic at all, and that whole thing just came off real homophobic. I didn’t really notice it until I got home and saw it. I apologize to Jason for that’ he said.

‘I saw they were making all the memes and pictures and making fun of him.

‘There’s people out there that think I was doing that to be funny, and truthfully I got gay people in my family. I don’t give a fuck if you gay or you not.’
