Rick Santorum: I wouldn’t attend a loved one’s gay wedding

Rick Santorum has said he will never attend a gay wedding – even a loved one’s.

The Republican presidential hopeful made the statement Thursday (16 April) on Hugh Hewitt’s radio show.

‘Would you, Rick Santorum, attend a same-sex wedding of a loved one or a family friend or anyone you were close to?’ the host asked.

‘No, I would not,’ he replied.

‘Because I don’t — as a person of my faith, that would be something that would be a violation of my faith.

‘I would love them and support them, but I would not participate in that ceremony.’

Republican presidential candidate Marco Rubio was asked the same question the day before by Univision’s Jorge Ramos.

‘If it’s somebody in my life that I care for, of course I would,’ he said.

‘I’m not going to hurt them simply because I disagree with a choice they’ve made or because I disagree with a decision they’ve made, or whatever it may be.’

Though the Florida senator was quick to add that he did not condone gay marriage.
