Singer Rihanna has just found out that the team for President Trump have been playing her music at his rallies.

President Trump, ahead of the midterm elections tomorrow, has been campaigning hard, with rallies in key states across the US.

Over the past week, Philip Rucker of The Washington Post has attended several of them.

Rucker tweeted: ‘It’s been said a million times, but here’s a million and one — Trump’s rallies are unlike anything else in politics. Currently, Rihanna’s “Don’t Stop the Music” is blaring in Chattanooga as aides toss free Trump T-shirts into the crowd, like a ball game. Everyone’s loving it.’

‘Tragic’

Rihanna was quick to respond. She tweeted back to Rucker last night: ‘Not for much longer…me nor my people would ever be at or around one of those tragic rallies, so thanks for the heads up philip!’

Rihanna is far from being the first music act to ask President Trump to not play their music at rallies. A week ago, Pharrell Williams criticized Trump for playing his track, Happy, at a rally in Indiana on the same day as the Pittsburgh Synagogue shooting.

Steven Tyler has also previously demanded Trump not play Aerosmith at his rallies.

Rihanna has risen to become one of the world’s top recording artists since she first hit the charts in the mid-00s. She has branched out into fashion with her own beauty line, and acting. Earlier this year, she also took on an ambassador-at-large role for the Barbados Government.

An LGBTI ally, Rihanna has previously spoken out in support of LGBTI rights. At a concert in Indianopolis in 2015, she criticized now Vice President Mike Pence for signing into law a religious freedom bill. Last year, she gave a lengthy response to a fan online explaining why she didn’t want to use trans models for her Fenty beauty line purely as a marketing stunt: ‘I don’t think it’s fair that a trans woman, or man, be used as a convenient marketing tool.

‘Too often do I see companies doing this to trans and black women alike!’

Campaigning for Andrew Gillum

Yesterday she urged her supporters to vote Democratic in Florida. In a Facebook post she posted the following message.

‘FLORIDA: You have the opportunity to make history this election.

‘The US has only had four black Governors in its entire history, and we can help make #AndrewGillum the next one and Florida’s first!

‘If you’re tired of feeling like you don’t matter in the political process, know the most important thing you can do in supporting a candidate is finding someone who will take on critical issues such as: making minimum wage a livable wage, paying teachers what their worth, ensuring criminal justice reform, making healthcare a right, and repealing Stand Your Ground.

‘That’s a platform we MUST support. Let’s #bringithome, Florida. Vote Andrew Gillum. And VOTE YES on Amendment 4 to restore voting rights to folks who have already paid their debt to society. VOTE on November 6th!’
