Rosie O’Donnell has become a grandmother for the first time.

The openly gay actress revealed the news that daughter Chelsea had given birth to baby Skylar Rose on Twitter yesterday.

She wrote: ‘my daughter chels – jake – and skylar rose my first grandchild !!! #love #life #NANA.’

The Flinestones star is herself a mother to five children.

She and Chelsea had a public falling out earlier this year, but when news broke that Chelsea was pregnant, a rep told ET: ‘Rosie said, yes, she’s pregnant and they reconnected.’

Rosie is a well-known TV and film star in the US and around the world; she came out publicly in 2002.

Her film credits include Tarzan and Sleepless in Seattle. In 2015, she has a cameo in Pitch Perfect 2, and also landed a recent role in Primetime’s SMILF.

In October Rosie confirmed her engagement to police officer Elizabeth Rooney.
