Drag Race UK confirms two pop queens as guest judges

RuPaul is soon to host Drag Race UK

Drag Race UK has revealed two more of its guest judges. The new names revealed today are Spice Girls legends Geri Horner and Jade Thirlwall of contemporary girl band Little Mix.

‘I just love how drag encourages people to be exactly who they are,’ said Geri in a statement.
‘This show has brought so much joy and pride to people all over the world. I can’t wait for everyone to see the amazing queens representing the UK in this first ever series.’

Geri has long been a staunch LGBTI ally and the Spice Girls have all been vocal in their support of LGBTI rights. She and fellow Spice Girls Mel B, Mel C and Emma Bunton recently reformed for a successful stadium tour of the UK.

‘I love absolutely everything about drag’

Likewise, Little Mix have also been huge supporters of LGBTI rights. In March, they even performed under a giant rainbow flag during a concert in Dubai, UAE. It was a brave gesture in a country that penalizes same-sex sexual relations.

‘I love absolutely everything about drag,’ says Jade of her participation in the show. ‘I love that it’s art. I love how fabulous it is, how fun it is, I love that you can transform your body into a fantastic beautiful woman… the whole thing! ‘I just wish in my next life I can be a drag queen.’

Drag Race UK

Drag Race UK has been filming in London. RuPaul will be hosting, with Michelle Visage a resident judge. British TV staples Graham Norton and Alan Carr will also be on the judging panel. Other guest judges confirmed to appear include Game Of Thrones’ Maisie Williams.

Since launching in 2009, RuPaul’s Drag Race has become a global phenomenon. The original US version has spawned 11 seasons, in addition to several seasons of Drag Race All Stars. Drag Race Thailand has recently completed its second season.

Last month it was announced that a Canadian version of Drag Race is in the works, although like the Thai version, it will not be hosted by RuPaul.
