RuPaul will be getting a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame next month.

The original drag superstar will be joining the Hollywood elite with the honor of a plaque on the most famous sidewalk.

The ceremony will take place on 16 March.

RuPaul’s Hollywood Walk of Fame star

This is a day after the RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 3 finale. Season 10 will start the following Thursday, on 22 March.

It was originally announced by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce last year.

While the Los Angeles City Council still needs to approve it, that is often just a formality. The decision will be made on Friday 2 March.

‘Sweet Cheeses!’ Ru tweeted last year. ‘My heart is beating so fast right now!’

The star will be located at 6652 Hollywood Boulevard. This is outside the offices of World of Wonder Productions, which makes RuPaul’s Drag Race.

Other stars close by to Ru’s star include Leonard Nimoy, Debbie Reynolds, Harrison Ford, The Monkees and George Takei.

Also being given a star in 2018 includes Ryan Murphy, Jennifer Lawrence, Lynda Carter, Gillian Anderson, Eric McCormack, Shonda Rhimes, Snoop Dogg, Weird Al, Minnie Mouse, Niecy Nash, Mary J. Blige, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Simon Cowell, and Kirsten Dunst.

Crocodile Hunter host Steve Irwin and comedian Bernie Mac will receive posthumous stars.

‘[We] looked carefully at each nominee and we feel that we have selected an eclectic group of talent that will appeal to the tastes of many fans around the world,’ said Walk of Fame committee member Vin Di Bona.

‘I know these honorees will remember the dedication of their stars with great memories and will be proud that they are part of Hollywood’s history now and forever.’

There are more than 2,600 stars embedded in the Walk of Fame, situated along 15 blocks of Hollywood Boulevard and three blocks of Vine Street.
