Peppermint, a finalist on the current series of hit TV series RuPaul’s Drag Race, is to be the subject of a documentary chronicling her journey and struggles.
The documentary, entitled Peppermint Project, will show her journey to stardom and struggles with gender and identity.
Peppermint Project will also raise a question, Can you be a transgender woman and a drag queen?
Peppermint says: ‘Even if I’d never been assigned male at birth, I would have found my way to the stage.’
‘Am I going to continue to do drag and wear lashes and put on makeup and go out on stage? Yes. My spirit belongs on stage.’
An Indiegogo crowd funding page has been going to help produce and distribute the documentary, which is due out for full release in 2018.
The film will begin with Peppermint opening up about her past, about how she thought about being a sex worker as a last resort to pay for her transition before appearing on Drag Race.
Actress Laverne Cox and fellow drag artist Bob the Drag Queen will also be making appearances in the documentary.
The trailer is available to watch now.
